Highlands Golf

The Highlands of Scotland offer a rich assortment of golf and allow golfers to experience some of the most secluded locations with stunning scenery as well as top quality and challenging courses. The Highlands has over 40 excellent  golf courses including some world famous ones such as Royal Dornoch, Nairn, Fortrose & Rosemarkie and Tain. Castle Stuart near Inverness has been growing in stature and recently became the venue for the Scottish Open Golf Championship which is tradittionally the warm up event for the British Open as it is also a links course. The first Scottish Open at Castle Stuart took place in July 2011 and was a huge success and a worthy success to Loch Lomond where the event has been held over the previous years.

Castle Stuart Golf Links

Castle Stuart Golf Links is a championship links course overlooking the Moray Firth, Inverness, the Black Isle, Kessock Bridge and Chanonry Lighthouse and is planned to be the centrepiece for this destination golf resort. The development was conceived by Mark Parsinen who was also involved in Kingsbarns Golf Links near St. Andrews and was co-designed by Parsinen and Gil Hanse. Set on 430 acres Castle Stuart Golf Links is now the home of the Scottish Open Golf Championship.

Boat Of Garten Golf Club

Boat of Garten is a testing 18 hole heathland golf course high up in the hills with a stunning view from the clubhouse over the first and second fairways to the Cairngorm Mountains. The course was designed by James Braid who said to be one of the grand masters of golf course architecture.

Grantown-on-Spey Golf Club

Grantown-on-Spey Golf Club is located in the scenic Spey Valley and is a popular area for those with more than a slight interest in Scotch Whisky. The 18 hole course is a mixture of woodland and parkland and offers incredible views towards the Cromdale Hills and the Caringorm Mountain Range. The course is suited to golfers of all calibre and you may even see the ospreys flying overhead.

Elgin Golf Club

Elgin Golf Club was originally created as a 9 hole course in 1906 but a further 9 holes were added in 1926. The course has been the venue for numerous major tournaments for many years and is regarded by many to be one of the best inland courses in Scotland.  The course is generally flat parkland with many tree lined holes and provides a  picturesque setting with excellent facilities.

Moray Golf Club

Moray Golf Club is located on the southern shores of the Moray of Firth and golf can be played virtually every day of the year due to the locations mild climate. The course is seen as a top quality example of a Scottish golf links course and has hosted many amateur and professional championships. The course starts and finishes within the town boundaries and offers great views across the Moray Firth.

Forres Golf Club

Forres Golf Club was designed by James Braid and Willie Park and at over 5500 meters although not one of the longest courses it provides a challenge to all calibres of golfers. The course is incredibly well maintained and has stunning views over the Moray Firth and Findhorn Bay. In recent years Forres has been the venue for the Scottish Professional Championship, the Northern Open and the Scottish Young Professionals Championships.
